Our Adoray team is busy preparing and delivering Blooms or Joy to our patients to brighten their day in celebration of both May Day and Mother's Day.🌹 We are so thankful for our Bloomin' Buddies Adoray Volunteers for helping us make this program possible! Family Fresh - River Falls always has the most gorgeous flowers too!

THANK YOU for GIVING BIG!
Our hearts are overflowing with the generosity and support of our cause. We set a goal of $3,000 and as of April 29 - we are at $4,860 and still more coming in on and offline. Thank you to each and every one of our donors. Please know that you are a part of something bigger by joining in GiveBigscv and supporting our new Palliative Care program. You are laying the foundation for a wonderful program that is going to change the lives of so many people in our communities long after your time at Adoary. What a beautiful thing to know you were instrumental in making happen for future generations to have even more options of care! As one of our favorite sayings goes, it takes a village to raise a child and takes a community to care for our sick and aging. Thank you for helping care for our community.

We recently had the opportunity to help a beautiful couple celebrate their 64th Wedding Anniversary. As part of our Dream Big program, Adoray was able to surprise the couple with Flowers, Balloons, and a cake. To top it off our Spiritual Counselor, Gregg, was able to give the couple a heartwarming blessing for a beautiful life together. In this single picture, you can feel their inspiring lifetime of love for each other. Their love story is truly one for the books or better yet an episode of the Love Boat.

We are recognizing our wonderful volunteers and introducing our
Adoray's ReStitched program in April's Coffee with Care Segment.

Happy May, Volunteers!
I was looking out the window at the rain that never seemed to stop during the last week, and then I remember the quote by Maya Angelou, “Try to be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.” When Maya explains this quote, she talks about people who have been a positive presence in her life. She carries those “rainbows” with her in whatever she is doing and strives to be a blessing for others.

Each of you, through your volunteering, has improved someone’s life.
Examples from actual charting of how you were “rainbows” in April:

Sang hymns
Baked brownies
Played cribbage
Provided caregiver respite
Read scripture
Shared conversation
Prayed
Enjoyed family pictures

You have brought color and light to the patients and families you serve.  You each embody gifts to share, and they illuminate days as each patients’ journey ends.  Thank you for all you do!

This month we are highlighting Volunteer spouse team Leann and Mike Lifto from Maiden Rock, Wisconsin. They volunteer individually and occasionally as a team. Leann and Mike are a joy to work with they bring positive energy wherever they go.

Leann was looking for a position closer to home, found Adoray, and was hired as the in the fall of 2016. After a few years, she stepped down from her position to spend more time with her grandchildren and started volunteering with Adoray in 2020. Leann enjoys music and spending time with family and friends - especially her 17 grandchildren.

Mike has been volunteering with Adoray since 2011.  He was inspired to become active with the organization after his wife, Verna, was on hospice. He was impressed with the care and support the family and patient were given.  Mike enjoys construction, being outdoors, traveling, and reading.

Leann’s words of encouragement to someone thinking about volunteering are, “Volunteering is one of the best ways to honor people and their families and gives you all a lot of joy.  Give it a try!”

With volunteers like you, Mike and Leann, we have a chance to make this world a better place.
Thank you for all your hard work - It makes all the difference.

May Day, May Day! We have the best Volunteers, and we can’t contain ourselves! We had a wonderful National Volunteer Appreciation month in April. We do our best to give thanks to each one of you for all your hard work, dedication and contributions to support the Adoray Mission. We had a wonderful time planning the Treasures Volunteer Appreciation Party that was hosted by the Osceola Treasures Store. Everyone had a wonderful time. Special thanks to all the Volunteers, Store Staff and Management that contributed to this fabulous event!

April showers, and showers and showers! We have had our fill and are ready for those flowers to grow, grow and grow! Over the past few months, each of our stores have had new volunteers join our team. We are grateful and excited that we gain such wonderful people! Please continue to share all your wonderful stories and spread the word to anyone looking to volunteer with us. Applications to volunteer are available at www.adorayhomecare.org or people can obtain an application at each of our Treasures store locations.

Here’s to the sun shining ahead!

This month's question is:

Now that we have a source to service sewing machines and we are reusing textiles and producing usable bags, does that mean we are now accepting sewing machines and unsalable clothing items in disrepair?

We are very fortunate to have the Busted Needle offering their time and talents to make sure that our sewing machines are in proper working order.  We are equally excited to have obtained a grant to purchase sewing machines to help facilitate the repurposing and creation of items out of the unsaleable T-shirts and textile goods that are donated.  Our mission is to accept great used goods that are in saleable condition.  We understand a by-product of that is having a few items that may not be saleable donated in the process.  We are not seeking out additional items in disrepair, dirty or damaged.
When a friend or someone inquires about donating to Treasures, simply say, “we are always looking for great used goods in wonderful condition that the stores can sell to help support Adoray.”  Simply direct them to the store manager, our website, or to call the store directly for a list of items we accept and our donation criteria.

Below is a basic list we make available to our customers:

What items can I donate to Adoray’s Treasures from the Heart?

Thank you for considering Adoray’s Treasures from the Heart for your donation.  We are a nonprofit fundraising store for Adoray Home Healthcare and Hospice.  We raise funds for our cause by selling gently used and new items donated to us by generous people like you!  So, THANK YOU!!

We happily accept new and lightly used clothing, books, housewares, art and furniture in great saleable condition.  We accept all seasons of clothing anytime of the year.  Housewares include items like lamps, small kitchen appliances with all their parts in working condition, utensils, dishes, serving ware, bakeware, etc.

Please note that a store manager must approve all furniture before it can be brought into the store for donation as we must make sure that there is room for it on the floor, and that it is an item that we can accept/sell.  Furniture must be free of any rips, stains or tears, as well as fully assembled.  Thank you for understanding.

On the other side, you will find a list of items we cannot accept.  Some of the items, such as safety equipment, we cannot accept for liability reasons.  Baby items tend to have a lot of recalls as well and we need to ensure customers are purchasing items that are safe.  Other items, such as entertainment centers, are becoming difficult to sell as people are buying flat screen TVs to mount on their wall.  We then must pay to dispose of them, which hurts our fundraising mission.  We don’t have the means to test certain items, such as hardwired lighting and electronics.  Some of the items simply take up too much room on the floor, and we are very limited on space.  Thank you for understanding these restrictions, and we thank you doubly for respecting them.

What items are not accepted for donation?

  • Electronics: TV’s, VCR/DVD players, microwaves, etc.
  • Electric items that must be hardwired, such as overhead lighting
  • Fuel driven items
  • Computer components: monitors, keyboards, software and manuals, printers, etc.
  • Safety equipment: bike or any other helmets, car seats, sports pads, life jackets, etc.
  • Sleeper sofas, beds or mattresses (ask a manager if you have an antique bedframe)
  • Bed related items such as bed pillows (not decorative) and mattress pads
  • Entertainment centers, large desks, commercial office equipment
  • Encyclopedias/Reference books or text books
  • VHS and cassette tapes
  • Christmas trees that are over 7 feet and not new in box
  • Children’s toys that are not complete, clean and in their original box
  • Baby cribs, car seats, high chairs, strollers
  • Medical equipment and devices
  • Workout equipment: treadmills, Nordic track, weight benches, etc.
  • Paint, oil, etc.

This month I am sharing our magnificent volunteer, Moriah Klejeski! Moriah came to us to offer some of her extra time and assistance, while she is a full-time UWRF student. She joined us towards the beginning of her school year, and we have enjoyed every minute she has been able to come to help us. She has done many prep tasks behind the scenes and is very detailed and proficient. However, she has an extraordinary talent for art, creative imagination and the skills to put these into action. So, wha~la! Moriah has helped cured the stigma of people feeling uncomfortable with mannequins that end up naked many times during our days. She has personally spunk-ified many of our mannequins and the customers are loving it when they lose their fashioned clothing! I gave her a simple request: Do whatever you like with no limits, however, you must leave your signature on your artwork, Moriah Klejeski! I think she has completed 7 mannequins so far. Thanks for spending your time and talents with us Moriah, you will be leaving a “permanent mark” in our store!

Occasionally, when we have an abundance of bed sheets, we do a purge and use some for other purposes in the store but donate the rest to local quilters.  There is a group from West Immanuel Lutheran Church that makes quilts for Lutheran World Relief and local ministries.  We gave them several large bags of our "leftover" sheets and they used every single one of them in their quilts!!  Each year, they make 75-100 quilts and this year, they also shipped the pillow cases that were included with the sheets to the Ukranian refugees.  The refugees are using these pillow cases to hold their belongings.  Margie, one of the quilters, is a sister to our volunteer Grace Bjorklund.

Make sure to enter your name in the drawing EACH TIME you volunteer at
Adoray's Treasures from the Heart for a chance to win the monthly drawing at each store.
