Meeting You Where You Are

November is the most wonderful time of year, not only is it a time that we pause and give thanks for all the blessings in our life, but we also celebrate Home Health and Hospice month. It’s a month, where we can all come together and celebrate every single profession and the value you for what you bring to Adoray. This year’s home health and hospice theme is “meeting you where you are.”

Our mission at Adoray is to partner with our community throughout serious illness wherever a patient calls home, and we will do this regardless of a patient's ability to pay. Part of the reason why started the palliative care program at Adoray was to ensure we had a program that could meet a patient where they are. We have home health and hospice, but not everyone qualifies for those programs, so palliative care allows us to truly meet a patient where they are at during difficult times.

This month also represents each one of you, the true heroes who make a who make a remarkable difference for the patients and families they serve. I say this every week – but the entire Adoray team truly amazes me each day.  Regardless of your position at Adoray, you make a difference and are an important component of the patient experience.

Happy Home Health and Hospice Month everyone. I am excited to celebrate with you.

Happy Thanksgiving / Veterans Day

As we celebrate special days this month, I want to sincerely thank you, the Hospice Volunteers, for your ongoing dedication and work with the patients.  With every phone call, visit, vocal performance, and Veteran pinning ceremony, you make a difference in someone’s life. In October, volunteer service hours totaled approximately 7% of total hospice patient care hours!

We all also understand that freedom is not free, and we have our Veterans to thank for the liberty we experience in America.  Thank you, especially to our Veteran Volunteers, who reach fellow servicemen and women on care with Adoray.  The visits and pinning ceremonies offer important recognition to those who were willing to put their lives in harm’s way for all of us.

Updates and Info:

  • Please turn in proof of your Flu Shot ASAP.  If you are medically unable to receive one, please reach out to me for a waiver.
  • A new communication, “The Monday Minute,” will be coming to your Adoray email in-box weekly.  It will include open service opportunities as well as educational tidbits.
  • If you are planning on leaving as a “snowbird” please email me with the approximate dates you will be gone.

What is the Round Up for Adoray program?

Recently we have expanded our Palliative Care programming to further care for patients in our service area.  Palliative Care is much needed in our service area but is a service that is underfunded.   We have begun the Round-up for Adoray Program and will designate the monies raised towards unreimbursed Palliative Care expenses.  At the end of each transaction, we simply ask folks if they would like to Round Up for Adoray?  This would round up their transaction to the nearest dollar.  Perhaps they are close to a $10 punch.  Folks want to help and are happy to pinch in a few extra cents. It can be a credit card transaction or cash.  The change goes in the Round Up for Adoray “bucket”.  In future additions we will be sharing how much money has been collected on a quarterly basis so you can see our progress.  Look for more information at each store explaining this program and how to implement it at your store location.

Happy Thanksgiving is around the corner, only 3 weeks away. Whoa, slow down days! As each week and month goes by, we are amazed and sometimes overwhelmed at how fast time is going. Time is very important in life and all we do for Adoray, the patients, the customers, others and ourselves.

Here’s a fun gift a customer brought to our team in River Falls. A tray of arranged cupcakes as a “Thank You” for all we do here at Treasures. We do occasionally receive treats from customers, and we are so happy for the extra sugar! A thank you doesn’t have to be anything large, any-size fits. During the month of Thanksgiving, I hope someone does something nice for you or shares why they are thankful for you! You are the best Team of Volunteers out there and we are more than just thankful for all you do. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and be blessed!

We have “Fall’en” in love with Melissa Reule, one of our volunteers in River Falls! She has been with us almost 1 year and has been a huge help to us. She has taken the initiative to learn many things we do behind the scenes, so we can make things run for the store. She tags clothing and stocks the sales floor, does many pricing and prepping tasks, helps maintain cleanliness on the sales floor and dressing rooms too. She is always willing to lend an extra hand and enjoys all the excitement when customers share their gratefulness for all we do here. Melissa has a wonderful creative side and has helped us with many display ideas. Melissa, we are very grateful for all you do, the caring and compassionate heart you emit to others. You are a wonderful person to have on our team and in the world!

These two gentlemen were in Baldwin, last Saturday for their brother's celebration of life. Afterwards, they came to visit the Baldwin 2 - Adoray's Treasures from the Heart store. The gentleman on the left traveled from Florida and the other from Escanaba MI. One asked the other if his coffee was strong enough.... and that is how it all started. LOL. Karen overheard that and asked if he needed a refill....his reply was yes, but would prefer bourbon this time. Now we were really starting to have fun! The other brother asked if we had any large hats that he could purchase for the "Mardi Gras" they do in Escanaba. Karen said yes we do! (those are Christmas tree toppers) Karen brought them out and they proceeded to wear them. The son of the gentleman asked if we were a charity. I proceeded to tell him yes, and about our Mission and purpose to support ADORAY HOME HEALTH CARE and HOSPICE, so he proceeds to pull out his wallet and gives us a $40 donation. I thanked him, and he replies they will probably break something before we leave.
It was great fun!

Baldwin 2's Monthly Volunteer Drawing Winner: Jackie Corrigan

A HUGE Shout Out of THANKS to Mary Jacobson for all her time and talents in designing and creating the GORGEOUS ANGELS for our windows at T2. If you haven't been to T2 recently, you need to stop by and see these works of art that Mary tirelessly made on her own time. This is just one of them, the sun was too bright to capture the other. Make sure to swing by at night when they are all lit up.

Thank you Mary!

Friday was Trick or Treat Day in Osceola. A great time was had by all! Thanks to Linda and Connie for handling the front line! We had many little goblins in for a visit. Many were sporting costumes purchased at Treasures!
