Flu Vaccine Information

Treasures volunteers are welcome to get flu vaccinations at our clinic but are not required or need to fill out an exemption.

We will have flu vaccinations are available for employees and volunteers on the following day:

Thursday, October 7, 2021 – 10:00 am – 3:30 pm

All employees, hospice and office volunteers, and students providing services at Adoray Home Health and Hospice are required to participate in the influenza immunization program by doing one of the following:

  • Receive a flu vaccination offered by Adoray free of charge
  • Provide proof of immunization if vaccine is received outside of Adoray. This may be a signed provider note, receipt for payment, immunization record that is dated and signed, or a medical record document.
  • Obtain an exemption from Amanda in HR
  • *Treasures volunteers are welcome to get flu vaccinations at our clinic but are not required or need to fill out an exemption.

A request for exemption form may be obtained through human resources. Exemptions may be granted for the following reasons:

  • Religious or personal reasons
  • A medical contraindication to the flu vaccine:
    • Anyone with medical record documentation of Guillain-Barre Syndrome symptoms within 30 days of an immunization.
    • Anyone who has had a documented reaction to the vaccine, such as hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of tongue or lips. This does not include sensitivity to the vaccine such as an upset stomach or mild to moderate local reactions such as soreness, redness, itching, or swelling at the injection site.

Staff granted an exemption are required to wear respiratory protection in the form of a surgical mask when within 6 feet of a patient, patient care equipment, supplies, office, or food-- to limit possible exposure. Masks are required for the duration of the flu season. The beginning of the flu season is October 1- March 31 or when the CDC or Wisconsin DHS indicates that flu season is over.

You must pre-register for a timeslot by clicking the link below.

Happy October! Even though the temps were balmy like summer this past week, the changing colors of the leaves remind us of the coming beauty of fall.  And, just like the changes in nature, some great changes are coming within the hospice volunteer program at Adoray:

1)    I have been working steadily on updating of the volunteer files in our management software called Volgistics.  This will hopefully have a positive impact on all of you when it comes to finding opportunities for volunteering. The software program, for example, has the ability to sort volunteers by interest.  This means if a patient is a veteran, we will be able to locate all of the people who served, are volunteering in the Vet-to-Vet program, and then make a match.

2)    In an effort to update the volunteer database, this month I will be sending out a revised availability form via email for you to update.  If you would prefer to stop by the office and pick one up to complete, please let me know. I would love to start meeting you in person!

3)    We have had several volunteers who are “retiring” from serving our patients.  Please keep your ears open for friends or neighbors who express an interest in getting involved.  As you all know, there are many ways to serve at Adoray from office assistance to pet therapy to arranging flowers (only once a month with Blooms of Joy).  A token of gratitude for the referral will be rewarded for each the successfully onboarded new volunteer you recommend!

Wishing you many joy-filled moments-
Kathy

Are you or do you know a talented Seamstress that is
looking to make a positive impact in your community?

Adoray is need of a Volunteer Seamstress to assist in the creation of Remember-Me Items as a part of our grief support program. Remember-Me Items are stitched with love for loved ones of patients who have passed. These items are created with the patients clothing. Your efforts will have a lasting effect on the families we serve at Adoray as these items will be cherished by loved ones for years to come.

Please contact our Hospice Volunteer Coordinator today at 715-629-1888 if you are interested!

It’s October..., a month of cool breezes, warm sunshine, full moons and falling leaves. The kids are getting ready for tricks and treating and dressing up in disguise. We want our Volunteers to enjoy and have fun while they spend time with us. They give it their all when they assist us with many projects. They proudly display a volunteer apron or a volunteer badge. Is this their costume or disguise? Perhaps. Many share that they volunteer, and some keep it in the quiet. However, all our Volunteers have a wonderful attitude and a sparkling smile that is always recognizable to us and our customers. This truly is no disguise! Come and enjoy the Volunteer Appreciation Party this month. It’s all to show our gratitude for our Volunteers and what you do for us! See you at the Party Sunday October 31st!

Baldwin Treasures 2

We ask that you keep Bruce in your thoughts and prayers, as Bruce learns to navigate life without his Trudy, his partner, his love. "Do not be sad for me today or next week. Be happy for Trudy because now she is pain free".  Hugs Bruce from all of us.

Bruce helps shuffle donations between our two Baldwin stores, also takes care of our garbage and cardboard.  Sometimes Daphne his rescue Pupaliciouse is along for the ride.

The only way Bruce agreed to have his picture taken, was if Amy could be in it too.

Jewelry, gems and junk-Oh My! We have a volunteer that maintains a very tedious task behind the scenes for our stores. Not just the River Falls location, but the Osceola locations too! Carole Englund has provided us with her talent of sorting, organizing, cleaning, and placing a value on all the jewelry that is donated by our customers. She takes a box full of “glam” and turns it into “glitter”. All jewelry pieces that are unsaleable, she places into small jars to be sold as “Junk” jewelry. These jars sell fast and the customers love them for crafts. It has been another area where we can make money out of most anything for our patients. Recently, Carole has taken on another project within our jewelry department. We have mapped over all our stores to have the same display style. All of our earrings have a display card with our Adoray’s Treasures from the Heart logo. It has been a huge change and they look wonderful! Thank You Carole for all your dedication and hard work!
