Happy April & Volunteer Appreciation Month!!
We hope your month is filled with gratitude and joy!
You are the STARS of Adoray and we cherish you all!

Dear Adoray Team,

After careful consideration, I have decided to resign from my position as CEO of Adoray, effective June 21, 2024. This decision was made after much thought and reflection, with consideration for both my personal and professional life.

I have been offered the opportunity to serve as the next administrator for Big Bend Hospice,  a not-for-profit organization in Tallahassee, Florida. While this decision brings mixed emotions, as I will miss each and every one of you and the remarkable work we have done together, I am excited about this new chapter and the chance to be closer to my family.

Please rest assured that the Board of Directors is actively exploring options to identify the next leader for Adoray Home Health and Hospice. They are dedicated to ensuring sustainable operations and maintaining the momentum and success we have achieved together as a team.

During this transitional period, I am committed to working closely with the Board of Directors and the leadership team to facilitate a seamless handover of responsibilities. I have full confidence in the abilities of our team to continue driving the company forward and achieving our goals.

I want to express my sincere gratitude for your dedication, hard work, and support throughout my tenure as CEO. It has been a privilege to work alongside such talented individuals, and I am proud of all that we have accomplished together. I am confident in the bright future that lies ahead for Adoray and each of you.

Thank you for your understanding and support during this transition.

Amanda N. Gustafson

Many of you added to your generous acts recently by also contributing to Adoray’s mission financially.

By providing the Full-Circle Aftercare Program with funding, you helped to ensure grieving families have the resources they need to access social security benefits, close accounts, and avoid fraud. Thank you!!!

Adoray will be participating in GiveBIG SCV on Tuesday, April 30th
to continue raising funds in support of our Full Circle Aftercare program.

Help us spread the word about this incredible day of giving
for nonprofits throughout Western Wisconsin.

NEW this Year - Adoray will be having Match Donation Sponsors to help double our donor's dollars and impact! Learn more by going to our Adoray GiveBIG SCV page.

Adoray Volunteers Needed!!
As our census grows - so do our requests for Volunteers from our patients and families. We are in need of more Hospice Volunteers. If you know anyone who would be interested in sharing their gifts and time to help care for our community.
Please have them contact Kathy or Martina.

We are also in need of cashiers at our Baldwin and River Falls stores.
2 person teams would be great! We are hoping to find two friends or family members to come 1 afternoon a month or every other week and share a shift cashiering together! What a Great way to meet people and spend time with your friend or family member while giving back to your community!

If you know of anyone who would like to Volunteer at one of our wonderful Treasures from the Heart stores.
Please have them call the store they are interested in Volunteering at directly.

Happy National Volunteer month!
The month of April is set aside to celebrate Volunteers and their selfless service. You, volunteers, are the backbone of Adoray. You provide countless hours of service, you’re always ready to say yes to see another patient, extend a hand to someone in need, and visit someone who needs extra love and care.

Some celebrations last hours, some last days or some a whole month, but for me:

  •  I celebrate you each time I talk to one of you on the phone.
  • I celebrate your emails of the service you have provided to our hospice patients.
  • I celebrate the moments you have shared with the family member who is struggling.
  • I celebrate every memory item that was provided, and every meal that was shared with a patient.
  • I celebrate every song that was played on your phone.
  • And I recognize every tear that you have shed when you lose someone who has become near and dear to your heart.

I have found a poem that I think describes the volunteer, each one of you, that I have been working with for the last three months comes to mind.

I’ll show you a volunteer

Show me a person who spends endless hours in training without pay, and I’ll show you a volunteer
Show me a person where a cry for help brings split second dispatch and I’ll show you a volunteer
Show me a person who is devastated when they are lost or maimed and I’ll show you a volunteer
Show me a person who is graciously welcomed as a next-door neighbor and I’ll show you a volunteer
Show me a person who sacrifices home life, TV, even tender moments, and I’ll show you a volunteer
Show me a person visibly moved at the strength of our national anthem and I’ll show you a volunteer
Show me a person who may be asked to give more than just dedication, and I’ll show you a volunteer
Show me a person who is asked to give more… and more…and more and I’ll show you volunteer.

-Author Unknown

Thank you for graciously accepting to give of yourself to people who are at the end of life. I know with all my heart that you make a difference with every visit, every phone call, every song you play, every game you play, every hug you give.

Your commitment and your examples of caring are extraordinary, and I am grateful to be part of it.

Good volunteers are like stars, you don’t always see them, but you know they are always there.

Thank you for being our Hospice Stars

April is National Volunteer Month.  Officially designated by President Richard Nixon in 1974, this month is dedicated to recognizing people who selflessly devote their time, talents, and treasure to support the causes they believe in. As supporters of Adoray, thank you for your generosity!

Legendary tennis player Arthur Ashe summarized this spirit of generosity well:

“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”

Whether you are in the back of a Treasures store sorting donations, honoring a Veteran on hospice at a pinning, volunteering as a cashier on a busy Saturday, or holding the hand of a patient’s family member, you are using your gifts and talents where you are to bless the individuals you encounter. You are doing what you can to make your community a more caring place to live.

Where has the time gone?  I remember sitting in the basement of the River Falls Treasures store with 1 folding table, a chair and a box of hangers.  It was November and cold.  Three days a week I would open the door and greet folks willing to bring donations to the “new kids” and carry them down the stairs.  Not sure of what we were really doing, a small team began sorting and planning our second store to be opened March 12th 2003.  What a grand day that was.  Our donations and sales were beyond our wildest expectations and as they say the rest is history!

In January 2004 we were awarded the River Falls Small Business of the Year Award.  Nancy Christiansen and I were beyond proud.  In less than a year open we had been nominated and won. Fast forward 20 years later. What an honor it was to win the River Falls Non-Profit of the Year in 2024.  To still be relevant and successful is a great testament to the Adoray organization, the staff and most importantly our VOLUNTEERS.  Many have been by our side in River Falls since that first day!  Thank you!

April is Volunteer Month!  We will be celebrating our wonderful volunteers all month long!  Sharing stories, photos and of course there will be treats!  Each of you is treasured and are the bright stars that make our Treasures stores shine!   Stop in at any of our locations for a special gift, a treat and drawings all month long!  River Falls will be hosting a Soups On Wednesday April 17th.  Stop in for soup, goodies and a laugh or two!  The fun starts at 11!

Join us in Welcoming Leah Gavin to the River Falls Treasures Team!

Leah is a familiar face to most of River Falls!  As owner and pharmacist of Freeman Drug, she has been on Main Street serving the community for many years.  Recently she semi-retired and asked to join us at Treasures as a cashier.  Folks love seeing her familiar face and we love having her at the register, greeting customers, and helping with assorted tasks.

Leah is still a very busy lady.  She still works a bit at Freeman’s, works and advocates for the Pierce St. Croix Free Clinic, quilts with the folks at Ezekiel Lutheran Church, and has fun with family and friends.  Welcome aboard Leah we are thankful to have you on the Team Adoray!

April is recognized as National Volunteer Appreciation Month, yet our gratitude for you, our shining stars, extends beyond the confines of any calendar. Like the celestial bodies that illuminate the night sky, your radiance is a constant presence. It's not solely the hours you dedicate to Adoray that make you remarkable, but also your daily acts of kindness that touch lives and strengthens our community.

Your generosity in sharing your time is a precious gift that enhances the lives of those we are honored to support and care for. Collectively, your efforts cast a luminous glow, making our community a more vibrant place.

A heartfelt THANK YOU for being our Volunteer STARS!

We served our March Volunteer Appreciation Lunch on Wednesday 3/20/24, we had a great turnout.  Lisa and Steve Hoff dropped off some newly serviced sewing machines and were able to stay and join us for lunch.

In April, we will be serving lunch on Thursday, April 18th.

We will continue to host monthly luncheons to show our appreciation and gratitude for everything each and every one of you do for us by volunteering your time and talents with us.

We encourage each of you to join us every month to help CELEBRATE YOU!!
