WISHING YOU ALL A WONDERFUL START TO 2023! And just like that, with a shift of a clock hand (does anyone have actual clocks with hands anymore????) and maybe the toot of a paper horn, the New Year has arrived. As with many people, I like to make resolutions for the fresh calendar pages of the next twelve months. Often my focus drifts and by spring, those goals are long forgotten. This year, however, I am bound and determined to follow through on plans for the Volunteer Program and training/education opportunities for you each quarter. In 2023, we will the following area together: Mind, Soul, Body, and Heart. The tentative calendar looks like this: - Mind: January 16 / February 2 – “Dementia Friends” and Memory Project Creation (More info coming shortly – mark your calendar for one of those days!)
- Soul: April – “Grief Doodling” presentation by well-known author Harriet Hodgson
- Body: August - Annual Training / Hand Massage & Gentle Touch Techniques
- Heart: Healthy Boundaries by Heart
In addition to these plans, please stay tuned for “Coffee Chats” which will be times for volunteers to simply come together and share their experiences, ideas, and enjoy fellowship. A closing thought for you: A New Year Poem by John P. Read Brush away old heartaches. Learn from our mistakes. Another year is finally over. A new dawn awakes. Let the old year out. Welcome the new one in. Bury the bad things of the past As the new year now begins. Make your New Year wishes As simple as you can. Pray for Peace and love, Not for wealth or fame. Pray for health and happiness. Pray for your fellow man. Pray for all the ones you love. Pray for those who’ve lost their way. As the midnight hour chimes, We leave the old and embrace the new. I wish the things you wish for yourself, And may God’s love stay with you. Blessings! Kathy Metcalf |
