Your dedication, compassion, and generosity continue to make a profound impact on our patients, families, and community. March was an exciting month! We celebrated the 22nd Anniversary of our River Falls Treasures from the Heart thrift store and will be celebrating the 26th Anniversary of our Baldwin Treasures store next week. So many great things are happening, and it is all thanks to our volunteers. Adoray has also seen our highest Hospice census in our 30-year history, with a census in the high 90s. This is a testament to each of you and the amazing care you help Adoray provide to our patients, their families, and our community. Thank you. As we continue to see our census grow, we hope you will share with your friends and family why you love being an Adoray volunteer. We are always in need of more volunteers to help us achieve our mission. In January, we launched our annual giving campaign in support of Full Circle Aftercare, a vital program that extends care to families beyond a loved one’s passing. Through our Full Circle Aftercare program, families receive guidance on finances, insurance, estate matters, and protection from fraud—helping them navigate life after loss. Here’s what families have shared about their experience with our Full Circle Aftercare program: 💜 “The Aftercare service was a huge help.” 💜 “Carol helped me know what needed to be done after my wife passed away since I had never done this before.” In 2024, Aodray helped: | |  | This invaluable service costs over $20,000 annually, fully funded by Adoray. As a not-for-profit, we rely on fundraising to sustain programs like this. Compassion-is feeling what others are feeling and trying to help with their troubles Faithfulness- standing by those we love and our communities Mercy- showing kindness to one who is weak or in need A very classic tale of becoming “real” through faithfulness, perseverance and love is the book “The Velveteen Rabbit”. It is a story of a stuffed Rabbitt, who longs to be real, and is told by the Skin Horse that becoming real only happens when all his fur has been loved off and his glassy eyes have fallen out. The Velveteen Rabbitt relishes his role as a beloved and favored childhood companion through play and illness and stands faithfully by his friend through abandonment. The result is being rewarded by becoming real. Each one of you, hospice volunteers, through your selfless service, show compassion, faithfulness and mercy to those you serve. I see you showing up for each patient you have been assigned to see. I see your compassion through songs you sing, cards you write, comforting words you share. Adoray has been serving our community for 30 years. Our core values are compassion, community and commitment. Hospice Volunteer Manager | | | | I am very excited about our Volunteer connections starting on March 26th, 2025 from 9:30-11 am in Baldwin office. I encourage each one of you to come and connect with each other, share experiences and stories and just BE with one another as Hospice volunteers. Important dates: March 26th – Volunteer connections April 21st - Volunteer luncheon June 16th – Annual Training | |  | Why do I volunteer for the hospice? I volunteer with Adoray Hospice as a visiting companion because I believe that spending time with patients near the end of their life journeys is beneficial to them, and I look forward to visiting them. It is time well spent listening, applying Compassionate Touch, and sometimes just being a quiet presence. The people I visit are appreciative, and I always learn something from them. Adoray has an excellent reputation for having caring, respectful, and responsible employees and volunteers. We all do our best to make patients comfortable. I am proud to be a part of this team. Vicki Seibel Betzold- Hospice volunteer The first contact I had with the hospice was when my dad was sick, and we used their services. They took care of my dad in his last days but also showed compassion and kindness to my mom. I knew then I wanted to give back to my own community and volunteer my time. Main reason for volunteering is the people. When I visit someone, that person and their family open themselves to me and in many ways make me a part of their family. It is my privilege to share knowledge that I have, training that I have received and compassion that I feel for each of my patients. I am grateful for the gift I have received to volunteer for the hospice. My volunteering started very simply and as the years went on, I realized how precious it has been to be a part of each one of my patients’ journeys. 2 person teams would be great! We are hoping to find two friends or family members to come 1 afternoon a month or every other week and share a shift cashiering together! What a Great way to meet people and spend time with your friend or family member while giving back to your community! If you know of anyone who would like to Volunteer at one of our wonderful Treasures from the Heart stores.
